Australasian Safari competitor Haydn Redfern will be remembered today at a funeral service in Cairns. He was tragically killed in a helicopter crash last week in Northern Queensland.Redfern last competed in Safari as a codriver alongside Geoff Olholm in 2009, and was due to compete again in 2011.
Redfern & Olholm both come from Cairns as does another Safari competitor Murray Young. Both Olholm & Young have been rocked by the tragedy but will both compete in the 2011, dedicating the race to the memory of their mate. Brent Twaddle has stepped in to co-drive alongside Olholm.
